While transporting two Aboriginal girls back to their families in Saskatchewan, a young lawyer is thrown from a plane during an in-flight explosion. His extraordinary entrance into the rural Canadian village wreaks havoc in the quiet lives of the inhabitants in this charming romance novel, He Fell from the Sky by Judy Fischer. It is eighteen-year-old Mary Bell's last day of school, and while she is contentedly walking home, contemplating her life, she spies three objects falling from the sky. Calling her best friend, Kimi, to come with her to investigate, the two girls search the area where Mary saw the objects descend. To their horror, they come upon a grisly sight. A plane has crashed on the dunes beside the lake and not far away is an unconscious young man. Mary is instantly attracted to the stranger and feels a bond connecting them, but who is he? Why has he come to their inconsequential town?

He Fell From the Sky is an engaging romance novel set in stunning Saskatchewan. With an undercurrent of intrigue woven into the plot relating to some of the problems and issues that plague the First Nation citizens of Canada, this is a thought-provoking and stirring story. The naivete and purity of Mary Bell, the main character, is an accurate depiction of someone who lives away from the fast pace of society. Her innocent and straightforward nature gives her role a believable persona, realistically portraying how dangerous it would be for innocent youths to move to a large metropolis on their own. This is an entrancing story of coming of age and first love. Combining the conflicts of the Canadian Aboriginals and the beauty of a girl's first romantic adventure makes this an exciting and pleasurable romance novel that will delight young adults as well as those who are more mature.
