Hail Mary for Peanut by Heather Nelson is an emotional true story about going through fertility problems and a miscarriage. The author shares the journey she and her husband had to go through to try for a child. The author chronologically tells the story from the moment they decided to try for a baby, through all the medical procedures and tragedies. Not only does she share her story, but the author also advises friends and family members on how to appropriately approach loved ones who are struggling to have a baby. She gives examples of phrases to avoid and things not to do when found in that situation. Heather further gives a closing message on love, peace, and prayer.

Hail Mary for Peanut took me on a roller coaster of emotions. The author's delivery of her story was gut-wrenching and made me sympathize with the emotional toil that she and her husband went through. I could tell that she did not find it easy to write or disclose her journey. For that, I applaud her courage and vulnerability. It was beautiful to read about how the couple always found little moments of joy, even in unexpected situations. Like when they got back from the hospital after finding out that Kevin also had a fertility problem. Heather gave her speech, but instead of it turning into a full-blown argument, they ended up laughing about her rant. The book has these little moments that show the love and respect the couple has for each other. This book is a must-read for anyone going through a trying journey. Not only regarding fertility, but academically, spiritually, or in any aspect of your life. Heather and her husband are living proof that no matter the outcome, the purpose of the journey is to make you stronger and not defeat you.
