Gold is the second book in the Heart of a Miner series by Krystal M. Anderson. This is the story of two people who were struggling to break away from their pasts, but somehow they always came up short. Virginia Baycroft is a hard-working woman. As a nurse, she doesn’t make enough but she has to pay off her late father’s debt. Charlie Montgomery, on the other hand, is trying to run away from his father’s past and striving to make an honest living. So when an opportunity presents itself to him in Silver City, Idaho, he takes it with both hands. When the two meet, they realize that they can help each other out in the best way possible. However, the past has a way of catching up with them when least expected. What are these two going to do now?
This is a beautiful historical romance, one that grabbed my attention from the get-go and made sure that I would not put it down until I finished it. I literally read this story in a single sitting. Charlie and Virginia have a very special bond, the chemistry was palpable from the very beginning and it only grew as the story progressed. I enjoyed the fast pace, I enjoyed how the story flowed and I especially enjoyed how the author added tension to the story. The climax was intense and the ending was just beautiful. I loved these characters and their lives. This is a very enjoyable story that I would definitely recommend to others. A wonderful historical novel!
