Author Lisa Bergren has created a lovely and in-depth look at Easter with the help of artist Laura Bryant. Papa Polar Bear and little Polar cub go for a walk in their Arctic world after the family's meal. Papa Polar Bear tells of God giving Easter to all to show that He is with us always. As a pine tree falls and its pine cones spread their seeds so that baby trees will grow, so out of death comes life. And so God gave Easter to mankind so that it could be seen that not even death could trap Jesus, the son of God. Papa Bear tells of Biblical events such as the flood that engulfed Noah and his family when people stopped believing in God. Little Polar cub takes all of what her father says seriously and understands that everyone must follow God, stay connected and not be disobedient. A lot for a little bear to absorb and can she do so?
"God Gave Us Easter" is another spectacular, well-written book in the series "God Gave Us.." written by Lisa Bergren and illustrated by Laura Bryant for Christian believers. It offers a thoughtful and serious look at Easter that is meaningful and goes way beyond Easter baskets and bunnies. The devout Christian will adore every word in this book. That Papa Polar Bear believably shares his religious knowledge with his little cub is a good example of creative, successful writing for children. No pontification, just nice presentation. I am sure it will be a great purchase for Christian families seeking something for their children beyond Easter baskets and Easter eggs.
