Frosted Yuletide Murder: Cupcake Catering Mystery Series Book 4 by Kim Davis is the latest in the series. All aboard for a Christmastime murder. Carrie gets the opportunity to cater for an event on an expensive yacht and with the help of Emory, she may be able to make everything perfect for her client, Mrs. Blair Villman. The event provides the sisters with another perfect opportunity as they're finally getting the chance to know their half-sister Vanessa in person. Unfortunately, the party is doomed to sink instead of swim when the first Mrs. Villman appears. When Emory finds a body in the freezer, the festivities take a chilly turn. With Detective Natasha Tran on the case, Emory is filled with dread as the detective does things by the book, believing everyone is a suspect until proven otherwise. Now Emory has more than a killer to catch as she must preserve her sister's livelihood by saving the reputation of her catering business. A few recipes are included at the end including lacy oatmeal cookies and gluten-free pumpkin chocolate chip muffins.
This fast-paced mystery is a perfect addition to the series and adds to Emory's ever-growing sleuthing capabilities while steadily expanding her family circle. Carrie's catering reputation is once again put at risk by an unfortunate murder, which adds to Emory's desire to solve the case so she can help her sister. The family-orientated plot revolves around Emory and her close-knit family unit which features her twin Carrie, brother-in-law Thomas, twin nieces, and a little nephew. Their dynamics give Emory a strong support system and a reason to stick her nose into the investigation. Underneath this familial element is the thread of Emory and Carrie getting their first real chance to bond with Vanessa, which Kim Davis incorporates through some lovely moments throughout. Emory has experienced a great deal of change in her life following the loss of her husband, job, and home which put her on a new path. A charming treat that will bring the spirit of Christmas at any time of the year, Frosted Yuletide Murder is a family-orientated mystery that is funny, wholesome, and endearing.
