There’s nothing like a thick, hearty stew to warm you up on a cold winter’s night. Or, a delicious cheesy lasagna to fill that space in you. Kim Robin’s From the Heart pays tribute to the family aspect of great food by honoring cherished family recipes over the years. “Family is everything” to this author, and great family gatherings require good, wholesome cooking and the pride of making things just right. From soups to jelly, this book has covered every aspect of the cooking/baking life and so much more. And there are always stories to share about each recipe, for what good is a good dish without a story or two?
Kim Robin’s cookbook, From the Heart: Mom’s Favorite Recipes, is a loving, caring book of cherished family recipes. The book is organized into sections from savories to sweets and more. Each recipe begins with a stellar color photograph of the dish being prepared. The photographs themselves are mouthwatering and one can only hope that the finished product will be as tasty and look as good as the author’s presentation. Each recipe is presented clearly, beginning with a list of ingredients and measurements in both imperial and metric. This is followed by a detailed preparation guide, concluding with some author notes on the dish itself. The end of the book includes family photos, including one of the detailed gingerbread village the author created when her sons (present in the photograph) were young. I loved this book!
