Brilliant is the perfect word to describe this compelling work. From Earth to Terra: A New Beginning (Volume 1) by Beverly Jenness is a futuristic novel with a powerful storyline, amazing scientific concepts, and utterly compelling characters. Set against a decadent Earth, some 200 years in the future, an elite group of powerful and enlightened people are looking for an alternative solution to the problems that plague Earth. Having discovered a new planet, they are armed with knowledge and tools that could allow them to rebuild a new, unpolluted, and healthy world. But they have a greater challenge to face than the wars raging around them and the harsh conditions of living on Earth --- they have to face the dissensions within the group.
Beverly Jenness exhibits a powerful imagination when it comes to a cast of characters, plot, and a picture of life 200 years in the future. One immediately feels that the author has done her research and seems to have a good deal of understanding of scientific concepts. I loved the idea of genetically enhanced humans. I was drawn in from the very first page of this compelling tale, but what gripped me as I read on, and what will certainly interest many readers, is how the author looks at the problems that are already hurting our world so badly --- the problems of climate change. From Earth to Terra seems to be a powerful warning to contemporary men and women about the fate of Earth if drastic measures are not taken to protect it. The plot is powerfully structured and the many conflicts help to move it steadily forward. This is a book that will grab the attention of readers because of its realism.
