Forever Feathers is written and illustrated by Inga Eissmann Buccella. Forever Feathers is a bittersweet story of a boy who overhears a conversation that makes his father sad while he is watching a Red Tail Hawk outside. His father explains to him that his grandmother is gone. The sad and confused boy, thinking she is missing, searches everywhere for his missing grandmother but cannot find her. Will he ever figure out where his grandmother went to? Will he find her? Will anything ease the worry and fear in his heart? Why are there now two Red Tail Hawks instead of one; are they there to watch over the family? Why are there feathers falling all around?
Forever Feathers: A Lyrical Story is yet another inspirational children’s story written by Inga Eissmann Buccella. Buccella tackles the touchy subject of death and loss in a way that kids can quickly understand. The story is written in the form of rhyming poetry that will keep kids focused on the deeper meaning and find some comfort during such a confusing time. The illustrations, also by Inga Eissmann Buccella, are beautiful and artistic as they amplify the emotions and ideas in the story. I love how Forever Feathers explains the confusion a child feels over death in a way that kids can easily comprehend. I recommend this story to anyone coping with the loss of a loved one, especially kids who have experienced the sadness of loss and need some extra comfort.
