For I Will Be With You: Daily Reflections on Recovery From the Bible by Mr. Boruch Binyamin is a series of reflections from the first five books of the Bible, starting with Genesis and ending with Deuteronomy. It also starts from the first of January and ends on the last day of December. The entire work reminded me quite a bit of the sort of calendar a person might keep on their desk with inspirational messages written on it. Each day starts with a quote from the Bible and then includes an explanation from the author about what the quote stands for and how it relates to his life, as well as guidance on how someone might apply it to their own. It also applies these lessons to Alcoholics Anonymous messages and ties everything together to give it all deeper meaning.
I don't know a lot about the Bible, so I thought this was an amazing read to see the chapters of Leviticus, Genesis, and others spelled out and relatable. The messages were all compelling and well-written, and I loved the way the book spoke directly to the reader to offer guidance and suggestions. A lot of the messages, despite being targeted toward AA members, were incredibly relatable to day-to-day life for anyone. To be perfectly honest, I think this work might even be better served as a calendar for people to keep with them, tearing off the days and finding the next gem. For I Will Be With You: Daily Reflections on Recovery From the Bible by Mr. Boruch Binyamin is a great read for anyone interested in learning more about the Bible, but especially targeted toward people who might need help overcoming their own addictions and who want to use faith as a tool.
