Finding Arun by Marisha Pink is a beautifully written story that will take readers along with Aaron Rutherford and his journey of self-discovery. When Aaron loses his mother, he discovers a secret from her past which takes him on an incredible journey of discovering his identity and the truth about himself which was hidden from him. What he finds out, the events and the lies will change his life forever and he also finds out what he wants from life and who he wants to be. His journey of self-discovery takes him to India, to his mother who resides in Puri. There he discovers an entirely new world linked to his life which was non-existent to him until then.
It is a well written book that is vivid in its descriptions and will stimulate readers with its color and cultural references. The finding of Arun in the due course of Aaron's journey is indeed well sketched, descriptive, and will touch the hearts of readers in a good way. I liked the character portrayal and the author has aesthetically captured the essence of India. Aaron's journey to India to meet his mother, whom he never knew existed, is very soulful. The twists and turns in the plot, along with the suspense, make it a compelling read. The author has described the Indian culture nicely and the book highlights Aaron’s determination to be true to his dreams and find out his true identity. A very colorful story with the right amount of suspense and emotions that makes it an engaging read.
