Millie and Mac are working together on another murder mystery in Festival of the Vine by JB Michaels. This novel is the fourth in the Mac and Millie Mysteries series, and they only get better. Retired police officer Mac was enjoying the local high school football team take on their rivals when an assistant coach, Tim Gainor, was stabbed. Mac assists his brother, Vince, in questioning those closest to Gainor when he gets the feeling there are darker forces at work. Knowing Millie would be a great asset to the case, Mac asks her to use her witch powers to find clues to a missing witness. This puts them both in danger again. Will this dark magic get the better of them just when Mac makes a serious decision?
Festival of the Vine by JB Michaels is a delightfully intriguing and amusing novel. The author weaves personal drama, magic, and murder into a light read that begs you to turn the pages. The story rotates between Mac’s football game and Millie accompanying her mother at the Festival of the Vine until Mac and Millie team up to take down the killer. The author skillfully keeps the reader guessing as to who the killer is and their motive until the end. This novel follows the mood and humor the other books in this series exhibit while adding more to the characters' personal lives. Overall, I enjoyed this clean and enchanting novel that keeps me craving more from this author.
