Brad Simon presents fourteen short stories in his book, Encountering Christlikeness. Simon offers the views of biblical figures and combines them with scripture, sharing lessons in obedience, love, companionship, faithfulness, and forgiveness through storytelling. After each devotion, Simon draws a lesson from the story and provides a series of "action steps" to help readers relate the material to their daily lives. Simon hopes his readers will apply the devotions and gain a better understanding of the figures mentioned in his work. The author includes a code for the Daily Prayer Guide & Journal as a gift, so readers can continue their walk with God confidently.
It's easy to take action after reading Brad Simon's book. His stories and thoughts will settle in your heart, motivating you to deepen your spiritual journey. Other than the scriptures from the Bible, the stories are told from Simon's perspective, but the historical pieces - like the type of food they ate at the time - give more depth to figures briefly mentioned in its pages. The book provides a unique point of view and challenges the reader to make similar decisions. I read this book with the hope that God would show me more direction through one of the narratives, and I was not disappointed. The questions at the end of each story are the same, but the text in the devotionals will change your answers as you review the lessons and reflect on their impressions on your thinking. Readers who enjoy impactful interpretations of biblical stories will love Encountering Christlikeness.
