In Eating Your Onion: God’s Business Plan Template by Onyinyechi Anne Udoh, the reader finds a workbook type template for living a life filled with confidence in order to overcome daily challenges. Udoh urges the reader to “live out loud” by focusing on the present and leaving the past where it belongs. “Fear obscures the reality and exalts the challenges.” Onyinyechi Anne Udoh’s plan is to live life on the SMART plan: a) S - Scalable: It should fit the existing system but expand as necessary. b) M – Meaningful: It should purposefully add value and solve problems as well as have profit potentials. c) A - Actionable: Deployed in the real world now. d) R - Relational: It should speak to your inner spirit and be able to create new connections. e) T - Transformational: It should change the status quo, disrupt stale processes, and drive your passion.
This book makes total sense to me. I like that the author uses logical language to convey some very serious points. Peppered with Bible passages and famous inspirational quotes, this nonfiction offering gives helpful insight for locating one’s purpose and establishing a healthy outlook. We control our own destiny and must learn to challenge ourselves and construct a solid plan for achieving our goals. The inclusion of scripture is not presented as a sermon, but as a foundation for God’s plan. Udoh encourages the reader to recognize the purpose we each have as God’s creatures and not to allow negative attitudes to enter into the equation.
