Discovering Your True Worth by Gordon Van Namee is a Christian book introducing readers to the concept of worth with the presence of God. Christians are too often lead in the wrong direction when it comes to the meaning of self worth. In this instance, people often associate the meaning with the opinion others have of you. This is not so. Self worth is not about what other people think about you, or even what your actions have lead you to believe. This way of thinking often leaves a person in a state of frustration, depression, lack of completeness or fulfillment, sadness, and can even lead to destruction. As a Christian, worth or self worth does not pertain to what others think of you, but what God think of you. Jesus, God, the Holy Spirit, whichever the reader wishes to call the Lord, has given Christians the free will to choose. If they choose to let others in and misguide them on what their worth means, they have that right. But, if they choose to let God into their hearts, and allow Him to guide them in making their decisions, He will aid them.
Discovering Your True Worth is a book that can be classified as a both a Christian living book, as well as a Christian study guide. The author has created a wonderful resource for Christians who want to discover peace within themselves and peace within the Lord. The dialog and text are both very well written. Author Gordon Van Namee gives a detailed explanation for most all statements throughout the book. He has written many paragraphs pertaining to a scripture in the Bible, then provides the scripture itself, and lastly a very detailed breakdown of what the text in the scripture means. In other words, he takes the Biblical text and translates it into laymen's terms. This can be very helpful to a reader who is not quite as familiar with the Biblical dialog or langue as they would like to be. This book was very enlightening and is a great read for anyone looking for an inspirational uplifting book about themselves and their relationship with the Lord, and how that relationship changes their lives.
