I enjoy reading ANY book by Robin Jones Gunn whether it is an adult book or a YA read. This is a YA read, but I love the characters Sierra Jensen and Christy Miller; it's like reading about friends that I grew up with. So, you can imagine my joy in getting to read Departures, two short books in one. Put together, both stories make for a fun, fast and enjoyable reading experience. I was able to read this book in one sitting, which is not unusual for me with Robin’s writing. She writes in a way that simply pulls me into the story. I was not disappointed!
If you haven't met Sierra Jensen or Christy Miller yet then this is a fine book to begin with! This book is actually a prequel to the other books in the series. The two stories give us a glimpse of Christy and Sierra's lives in the summer before they meet, before Christy and Todd, before Sierra and Paul.
