Dead Secrets by LA Toth is A Jack Mango Murder Mystery. Jack Mango has a great job as a detective in Los Alamos, a life that he is perfectly happy with. That is, until he is shot, taking an assassin’s bullet meant for the governor. Shortly after recovering, Jack’s wife dies and, finding it hard to cope, he ups and moves his family to California. Jack Mango’s first case as Serrano Police Chief is the arrest of Psychiatrist Billy Morton who drugged and raped his adopted daughter, Clare Morton. Billy Morton is found dead on the beach 4 years later after being paroled. Another body is found near a different beach in town, near where drugs had been offloaded from a panga boat. Jack has his hands full, what with trying to sort out a shambolic love life as well, and only time will tell if he can solve the case and solve his life problems at the same time.
Dead Secrets: A Jack Mango Murder Mystery by LA Toth is an involved murder mystery with lots of action. This book is very well written and the plot develops naturally as the story unwinds. There is quite a lot to keep up with, but it didn’t take me long to fall right into the story and find myself being dragged along in the undercurrents of murder and mystery, with a bit of romance and humor thrown in for good measure. This is a real adventure, a proper rollercoaster ride that left me wanting to read more. There are lots of surprising twists and the characters are so well developed that I almost felt as if I knew them personally. Recommended for anyone who loves the murder mystery genre and who wants a story that will hold their attention all the way.
