Ema continues to learn about her unique gifts, abilities, and responsibilities as a newly developed vampyre in Dark Liaison by J.D. Brown. Unlike many others of her kind, Ema has a special set of gifts to help prepare her for her specific destiny. She must not only learn to use them but also determine the allegiances of other characters in the realm of the mystical, right in the heart of modern society. Not sure who to trust and how much she can afford to rely on her feelings for Jesu, Ema must carefully navigate clan politics and gain insights into historical connections between rival leaders. Constantly in danger from the attempts of Appolyon to capture and kill her, Ema quickly learns to take advantage of her instincts and will to survive to remain free, save those who are important to her, and, above all, trust in love.
J.D. Brown continues the exciting story of Ema Marx, a superior breed of vampyre, in Dark Liaison. Escaping the death order of one clan, Ema turns to the protection of another and quickly becomes enmeshed in a complicated set of promises and duties. Brown skillfully blends current issues with legend and fantasy to create a world that is as real as what we experience every day. The characters have unique personalities and interact in a complicated mixture of old world tradition, basic survival instincts, and diplomacy. This is a great story that is almost impossible to put down.
