Lucky Number Six by Julia Shraybman tells the story of individuals who survived a shooting at Giovanni’s Coffee Shop. This café was Charlie's favorite spot, where she could unwind and dream about her future. For Matt, the coffee shop served as a refuge, allowing his stresses to dissipate. Alexandra was eager to embrace life to its fullest with a promising future in sight. To Olivia, the café represented more than just a quick caffeine boost; it was her haven. Matt, Alexandra, and Olivia were among the customers when two men wearing black ski masks burst in and opened fire. Marked with the number six, Matt, Alexandra, and Olivia were the fortunate ones to be released. Two years later, their paths intersect again, and they find themselves dissatisfied with how their lives have unfolded. After encountering a mysterious woman with dark hair, their luck changes, but how long will it last?
Lucky Number Six by Julia Shraybman has all the elements of a superb psychological thriller. The story was fast-paced and packed with mystery, suspense, and intrigue. I was glued to the pages because of the compelling plot and its unexpected twists and turns. The characters were well-developed and interesting. With my knowledge of the characters before the shooting, it was easier to understand where they were two years later. The writing style was convincing and credible, and I was hooked from the start until the end. It was difficult to put this well-written book down, and it kept me turning the pages as fast as possible. The ending was a big surprise. I did not see it coming or expect it at all.
