More than seventy dead. Over a hundred injured. All sprawled in a bloody mess on the floor of what had been the launch party of a drag club a few hours before. This and a strong smell of gunpowder and the coppery smell of blood welcomed law enforcement agencies in Colorado to the latest crime scene. A shooter had stormed into the new club mid-party and quickly turned it into a place of carnage. Agent Buck Taylor of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation wasted no time picking up the trail of the suspected killer, Bryce Tanner. Things get complicated when law enforcement cannot find Bryce Tanner’s profile on their database; he is simply a ghost. However, the name Roger Shipman keeps popping up at every stage of the investigation. Could Bryce Tanner be Roger Shipman or are they two different people? With far-right activists politicizing the mass shooting incident and a psycho killer on the loose, will Agent Taylor solve the case? Find out in Chuck Morgan’s Crime Scene: A Buck Taylor Novel.
You are not going to put down this whodunit until you have flipped through it from cover to cover. Once again Chuck Morgan weaves an intriguing plot starring the savvy, intuitive, stealthy, hawk-eyed agent Buck Taylor. Crime Scene is a must-read for lovers of mystery sleuth and murder tales with a touch of conspiracy. Chuck spins a tangled web of mystery with a storyline based on childhood trauma, loss, vengeance, bad luck, small-town gossip, shootings, murder, psychos, and sleuths. The suspense in the storyline coupled with the plot twists had me on the edge of my seat. The evocative descriptions brought the scenes to life, dropping me right in the middle of all the action in Colorado. The well-crafted role-players and their emotions were brought out boldly, allowing me to connect with them. Agent Taylor is a shrewd character with an incredible knack for piecing together a puzzle, and you can’t get enough of him. Although this is the eleventh installment in the Buck Taylor series, it is a stand-alone novel and a magnificent piece of work. I loved it. Chuck never disappoints.
