The reason I chose to read Creamed at the Coffee Cabana: A Cozy Mystery by Constance Barker was simply because it had “coffee” in the title. When the most hated lady in Sweet Home, Florida, is found murdered in the Coffee Cabana, Lily Parker, owner of the Coffee Cabana, and her two lovable aunts attempt to solve the murder.
Creamed at the Coffee Cabana may be a short story but it was extremely entertaining. I really loved the characters in this book. They had great chemistry together. Out of all the likeable characters, the aunts, Essie and Hilda, were my favorite. I admit I did not solve the murder of Francine Diddlemeier right away. Barker introduced just enough characters to keep me guessing as to who the actual murderer was. A book that keeps me guessing is my favorite type of book. I also loved that Barker used a coffee house as the setting. The only negative thing is that it left me craving coffee even more than I do so now!
Creamed at the Coffee Cabana: A Cozy Mystery is the first book in the Sweet Home Cozy Mystery series. Barker also has another mystery series which is called the Caesar's Creek Mysteries. That series currently has nine books in it. This is the first book I have read of Barker’s. I really enjoyed it and look forward to reading Barker’s other books. I recommend this book if you enjoy reading a good, clean mystery. I loved this book!
