Chroma Crossing Chronicles: Blood Moon by S. Yurvati is the first part of a series. The deities are a little bit bored and, to amuse themselves, they decide to pit a mere mortal against someone who isn’t quite what he seems. Candy has just lost her father and has inherited enough money to go to the art college she has always dreamed of. Her stepmother, Cherry Ann, and Todd, her stepbrother, live in the main part of the house, while Candy resides in the carriage house she inherited. A sudden commission from a strange man gives Candy her first real hope as an artist, a life-sized portrait of a rather beautiful woman. But things seem to be too much of a coincidence; where did this man come from?
As Candy immerses herself in work, her stepmother immerses herself in a series of risqué sexual adventures with a man who could prove to be dangerous. It doesn’t take long for Candy to realize, after a couple of apparent accidents, that somebody wants to harm her. Running from something she fears, Candy crosses into an unknown world, a new dimension that throws her into the path of a hunter who makes the once staid and shy Candy throw aside her inhibitions and give in to her raging hormones. The deities' game has taken a turn even they couldn’t have foreseen – can it end well or will disaster rain down on everyone?
Chroma Crossing Chronicles: Blood Moon by S. Yurvati is definitely not recommended for younger readers! With plenty of explicit sexual scenes, this could make even the most open-minded reader blush! The book started on a high note for me, an amusing exchange that set the scene for the book. I’m not sure if humor was intended in the story but it has plenty of it along with a great, unique plot. The story is full of fun, action, and plenty of twists and turns, leading to some points you might not have expected. But then with this story, the unexpected appears to be the norm! The characters were wonderfully well developed, I could picture them in my mind’s eye as I read the book and I found myself wanting to slap the stepmother several times. The book drew me in at the start and kept me reading, needing to know how it all ended – and leaving me wanting to read part 2. Great story, but definitely adult reading only.
