Ceekee The Mermaid Cop is a children's picture book, written by Shelly Pearl and J.M. Northup with art by Surya Ali Zaidan. The story revolves around the beautiful friendship between Ceekee, a mermaid, and Lynsie, a girl who lives on land. Ceekee is not an ordinary mermaid; she is a cop who patrols the beach and enforces the rules. While she is having a great time on the beach, someone steals Lynsie's bag and dives into the sea. Ceekee and her seahorse, Lilypad, hear the commotion and quickly rush to Lynsie's aid. Their timely response helps save the day, and the conversation that follows the incident teaches the group of friends important lessons about caring for each other and avoiding wrongdoing.
Ceekee The Mermaid Cop is a delightful book that combines humor and an entertaining story to captivate readers. The moral lessons are great for children's development and also apply to adults. Shelly Pearl and J.M. Northup do a good job of presenting the lessons in a way that children will understand and appreciate. The authors utilize a casual tone and simple words that children will find familiar and relatable. The colorful illustrations correspond with the story and perfectly depict the characters. The colors are bright, making the book look vibrant and sparkly. My favorite character was Ceekee's seahorse Lilypad. Her rainbow mane and cute features made me fall in love with her. The book is a must-read for anyone who loves children's stories with beautiful creatures and a moral. Overall, this is great work, and I cannot wait to read more from these authors.
