An author of murder mysteries is the target of a kidnapper in the charming, cozy mystery, Cats, Cannolis, and a Curious Kidnapping (An Anna Romano Mystery Series Book 1) by Cheryl Denise Bannerman. Anna Romano is a reclusive writer of murder mysteries, a fan of food, and a cat lover. At a book signing, Anna's life takes a dangerous turn when she is approached by a man who asks her to autograph a book in memory of his dead wife. A few days later the same creepy man accosts Anna at the grocery store parking lot and warns her to be silent, but because he did not physically harm Anna, the police blow her off. Then Anna's house is broken into, her seven cats are locked in the linen closet, and the same warning is painted on her living room wall. This time Anna is taken more seriously, and Detective John Solace is concerned for her safety and suggests she get a home security system. However, before Anna can get a security system in place, she disappears. While Anna is trying to escape her captor, Detective Solace is looking for clues to her whereabouts. How will it end for Anna? Can Detective Solace rescue her before it is too late?
Cats, Cannolis, and a Curious Kidnapping (An Anna Romano Mystery Series Book 1) by Cheryl Denise Bannerman is an entertaining sleuth mystery that will simultaneously keep you on the edge of your seat and bent over in stitches. Throughout the story, I couldn't help chuckling as Anna bungles her way in and out of her kidnapping. Anna's quirky character is an engaging and likable protagonist. Not only filled with Anna's hilarious antics, this amusing story also has a nice touch of a budding romance. This laugh-out-loud story is a fun and clean read, and will delight readers of all ages who adore cozy mysteries.
