Cam's Sneakers by Karen Pessoa is the cutest book about a sweet little giraffe losing the sneakers he cherished. You see, they are not ordinary sneakers; they sing and Cam has so much fun with his special sneakers. But one day they are gone, and Cam doesn't know where he can find them. This makes for a sad little giraffe. Can you help Cam find his beloved sneakers? You have to read the book to find out what happens.
Cam's Sneakers is such a fun and loving book to read. You will immediately fall in love with Cam, just as I did, as you follow his journey with his other friends to find this special pair of sneakers he lost. I see several teaching elements throughout this story. Cam getting upset over his missing sneakers teaches children that it is okay to feel and show your emotions. The rhyming throughout introduces children to rhymes, and the colorful words with the same color as the word, such as orange for the word orange, teaches your child not only colors but the words to recognize with the colors as well. And I can't say enough about the colorful vivid illustrations created by Luqman Amanat. I can see kids running to grab this book off the shelves. The cover is absolutely adorable, just as all of the pages are. The animals are precious, especially their faces. You child will love Cam's Sneakers by Karen Pessoa, and so will you! And wow! What an amazing debut book. This little book belongs everywhere there is a child!
