Brick - by - Brick: Reshape Your Thinking by Shawn Singleton II is a self-help program designed to help those who feel they’re in a rut dig themselves out. He has devised a step-by-step methodology that is sequential and easy to understand. He includes handy worksheets to help us get started. He uses the analogy of building a house and of our having used various “shovels” (mistaken methods) to dig ourselves into an unsatisfactory situation. Mr. Singleton’s first and enduring message is that there is hope, but it will take time. In the Brick-by-Brick program, patience is a virtue. He uses the story of a husband who found himself in a mess domestically and financially because of his singular focus on earning money for his family. Singleton says that the husband has used numerous “shovels” to dig the hole and will need a systematic program of bricklaying to climb out and head in a new, more fulfilling direction.
In Brick - by - Brick, Shawn Singleton II presents his system with compassionate encouragement every step of the way. First, we must stop digging our present hole, then “spot check” all the “rooms” of our life, review the nature of our friends and family, take actions to change, examine our own character, find compatible counseling, master our finances, get into physical shape, and find faith in Christ. Author Singleton shows us how to defeat the triad of “doubt, fear, and trust.” Besides using the film “Facing the Giants,” he provides quotes from Inky Johnson, Les Brown, Romans 12:2, and Paul Coelho. “Stop, Heal, and Build,” is Mr. Singleton’s credo. If you feel you have lost your way in life, I think you can regain your bearings by following the lessons in Brick - by - Brick: Reshape Your Thinking by Shawn Singleton II.
