Bradley and the Rocket is a children’s picture book by Julian Hilton with illustrations by Jacqueline East. The story follows a boy named Bradley, who is given homework to build a rocket. Bradley knows all about the planets in the solar system, like the mountains on Mars and the rings of Neptune. Unfortunately, even with all this astronomy knowledge, he does not know how to build a rocket. At night, as he ponders how to do his homework, he falls asleep and is woken by a bright light in the sky. A mysterious aircraft lands outside his window, and a tall blue creature steps out. Bradley is stunned when the creature seeks his help solving a problem far beyond the Milky Way. Join Bradley as he travels the universe and finds inspiration for his homework.
Reading Bradley and the Rocket was a fun adventure because the story is unique and unpredictable. Every scene brought a smile. Julian Hilton showcases creative writing skills and brings the story to life with a cheerful tone. Bradley is a bright and cute kid who loves astronomy. The story teaches children about the planets from Bradley's perspective and introduces them to friendly alien characters. Children will love the colorful illustrations depicting adorable characters and beautiful scenery. I loved how Bradley used his experience to build an innovative project for his homework, giving the story a marvelous and satisfying ending. Parents and educators can read it with their children and learn about astronomy and building rockets.
