Oblivion Black: The Sculptor Book One by Christa Wojciechowski is a richly gothic narrative that explores the dangerous allure of beauty, obsession, and desire. The novel introduces Ona Price, a struggling artist who becomes the assistant to Antoni Azarov, a reclusive sculptor known as ‘The Hands of God.’ Through their intense, transformative collaboration, Ona's passion for art is reignited, but beneath Antoni's creative genius lies a dark, consuming secret that threatens their burgeoning connection and Ona's fragile recovery. The poetic prose brings a haunting, visceral quality to each scene, making the characters and their world feel darkly enchanting.

I was immediately taken to a new headspace by the way this novel is penned, offering us a world where the words the author uses conjure images and emotions that bubble under the surface and build to some amazing crescendos as the plot heats up. Christa Wojciechowski captures the raw, intoxicating power of art and human frailty with a remarkable level of depth considering how sharp and succinct some of the poetic moments are. The author pulls readers into a story that feels both beautiful and unsettling but also turns on a knife edge with brilliant pacing. The complex characterization of Ona and Antoni is mesmerizing, revealing layers of psychological depth that invite empathy and intrigue, and the author's mastery of gothic elements imbues the story with an eerie, almost mythical atmosphere, reminiscent of classic literary works. Overall, Oblivion Black is a captivating and haunting exploration of the human condition, and I highly recommend it to fans of gothic literature.

After OD’ing on the streets of Manhattan and narrowly surviving death, art school dropout Ona Price is forced to live with her aunt in New Jersey to get clean. While recovering, she lands a job as the assistant to an enigmatic Russian sculptor, Antoni Azarov. Burdened with distant memories of a tough childhood, Antoni exhibits unapologetic abrasiveness. Perhaps his extraordinary talent, which earned him worldwide fame and the sobriquet “Hands of God,” is the only thing that makes him bearable. Working with Antoni reawakens Ona’s love for art and sparks a boundless desire to have him. Does she, a recovering heroin junkie, something she has kept a secret all along, stand a chance with this sculpting genius? Worst of all, what if he discovers her past? Can Ona handle the darkness that lurks behind Antoni’s eyes? But the pair may have no time to explore their relationship as the predatory wife of a wealthy benefactor barrels into their creative haven, hellbent on having Antoni all to herself. Find out how it all goes down in Christa Wojciechowski’s Oblivion Black: The Sculptor Book 1.

You won’t peel your eyes off this gripping page-turner until the end. Christa Wojciechowski’s Oblivion Black is a must-read for lovers of literary novels blended with romance, drama, suspense, and an intense and sensual edge. The author weaves an intriguing plot featuring a fascinating dynamic cast. The vivid imagery colorfully breathed life into the scenes, giving them a cinematic appeal. It felt like I was in Antoni’s studio, watching the magic behind the creation of the sculptures and being awed by their exquisite nature. I could almost touch them. The author uses depictions, introspection, and authentic and refreshing dialogue to reveal the cast’s intricate emotions. All this, accompanied by their complex traits, allowed me to connect with them. I was hurled into their flawed world, entangled with childhood trauma, existential crisis, eroticism, love, addiction, lust, obsession, secrets, redemption, and so much more. The wistful tone of the storyline on Ona’s part gave me a glimpse into the depth of an addict’s battle with addiction. This is a romantic and literary classic. I loved it. Wojciechowski is undoubtedly a tremendously gifted author. I can’t wait to read more from this author.
