Blue and Green Should Never be Seen! Or So Mother Says by Colette Kebell is a story of growing up. Griselda Griswald, or GiGi as she is better known, works hard at helping people to look and feel better in her job as a personal shopper, but things aren’t quite as straightforward as one would think. Her mother says her job is not a real one and keeps on at her but, even though she struggles for money and even though her and Ritchie, her business partner, struggle to keep things going, carry on they do. Now they have competition; the Battersea Fashion Center is about to open opposite their office and things are about to get tough for the pair. GiGi has to come up with new ways to keep her company on top and still juggle life and love when she meets the person who could be her one true love. Can GiGi keep all the balls in the air at once, or is she going to drop one and let everything come tumbling down? And will her mother be right there with her or will she let GiGi live her life as she sees fit?
Blue and Green Should Never Be Seen! by Colette Kebell is a fun and lively read. It’s not just a good read, it is a book that talks of dreams, of following them against all odds, and of living life the way you want to. The characters have been incredibly well-developed, with lots of details that make the story go round and help to give the main protagonist an identity, a person that many of us can relate to. GiGi is a strong woman in a light-hearted tale that has a combination of romance, humor and true grit. The story is written very well, it flows naturally, and the plot follows a natural course. There are ups and downs, twists and turns, and lots going on to hook the reader and I found it difficult to put this down. Loved it, a great story, and recommended for anyone who fancies a bit of a light read to while away an hour or two.
