In BloodMarked (The Fraktioneers Book 1) by Lu J. Whitley, Greta has to face some rather grave problems: her home is invaded by beings called Takers, her mother is killed, her own blood seems to have special powers, and she has to deal with a vampire who denies being a vampire. Jami rescues Greta, but it takes a while for her to trust him - after all, she saw him doing something rather suspicious (you'll understand when you read the book). Apart from Jami, however, there is nobody who can answer her questions, and nobody who can help her. But who are the Takers, and why are they after Greta's body?
While the characters in BloodMarked (The Fraktioneers Book 1) by Lu J. Whitley are not really new - you have the sassy and witty heroine and a hot vampire who has issues with controlling his inner demon - the book is very well written, and it is quite easy to read it within just a few days. I liked that there were proper problems, and that things did not always go smoothly. In many novels, authors make it far too easy for their main characters to overcome everything easily. This isn't the case here, and it's fantastic, because you never know how a situation will play out. I don't say this often about a series, but I would be interested in reading the second book of the series. The writing style was nice, and you could easily imagine the various settings - and this always helps to get readers more involved in a story.
