Billy Be Kind: The Kind Little Mouse - Honesty by Kim Adams is a colorful illustrated children's book that teaches youngsters the importance of being kind and, in this installment, the importance of being honest. Billy Be Kind is a mouse living with a family of two young boys. Billy looks after the boys, cleans up after them, and makes them the treats they crave. When their mother comes home and praises them for cleaning up and keeping the house neat, they lie and accept the praise. Billy tells them they should not lie and must tell their mother the truth. When the boys cannot nap because they are thinking about the lie, they tell their mother the truth and feel the relief of owning up to their mistakes.
Kim Adams tells a story in colorful pictures and rhyming text that is sure to find a place in the hearts of young and old. She teaches a crucial lesson in honesty in a most creative and entertaining fashion. Children need to know fundamental moral values to grow into teenagers and adults with strong morals and basic values. Billy Be Kind is a wonderful book using simple sentences and illustrations to capture the attention of young readers to teach them a very basic value. As a grownup who loves rhyming children's books, this one is going onto my favorite bookshelf. In today's world, teaching children the value of a good moral code is crucial. Billy Be Kind is a beautiful way to teach the young.
