Beyond the Tree: The Real Meaning of Christmas is a religious-themed children’s picture book written by Lindsey Coker Luckey with illustrations by Apple Vert. Noah is a young boy eagerly awaiting the arrival of Christmas. When the day arrives, however, he is disheartened because he does not receive the exact gift that he wanted. Noah’s grandmother gently and lovingly explains to Noah the real meaning of Christmas. After learning about why we celebrate Christmas and exchange gifts on this special day, Noah is encouraged to think of others and to help in whatever way he can. On this Christmas day, Noah begins to understand the significance of the day and to appreciate all of the good things that he has in his life.
Beyond the Tree: The Real Meaning of Christmas shares a meaningful message about Jesus’s birth and all the goodness that He brought into the world. Detailed and light-filled illustrations throughout the story help to convey this message. The story will provide many opportunities for children and their parents and caregivers to discuss the true reason we celebrate Christmas, and how we can share God’s love with one another. Noah learning these lessons from his grandmother beautifully demonstrates the wisdom that can be passed down from generation to generation. At a time when Christmas has become increasingly commercialized, this heartwarming tale reminds us all that Jesus’s birth and His sacrifice for us are the real reasons we celebrate Christmas. Beyond the Tree: The Real Meaning of Christmas is a highly recommended and uplifting read.
