The balance between good and evil is shifting and 18-year-old Cassidy Kavanaugh is drawn into the battle without having any idea why or how in Between the Bleeding Willows: The Demon Hunters Series, Volume 1 by D.A. Roach. Emotionally drained and confused after the tragic death of her long-time boyfriend, followed within weeks by that of her Gram, Cassidy is searching for answers. A good luck charm she had given Jace was not recovered from the car wreck, so Cassidy goes to the site of the crash to look for it. The search takes her to the abandoned cemetery, said to be haunted, where she does find the ring, but also so much more – she ‘falls’ through a gateway into the home of the Clan in the demon realm. This has never happened to a human before so the demon hunters, products of angelic and human blood, need to figure out why. This brings Cassidy in touch with her deceased boyfriend, Jace, who has been turned into a demon, and into the conflict between the demons and the hunters. Will she be able to help maintain good in the world or become a pawn in a dangerous conflict?
D.A. Roach has created an exciting paranormal adventure in Between the Bleeding Willows, Volume 1 of The Demon Hunters Series. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the story and appreciated the author's imagination and the development of the characters in their separate realms. Strong characters, an interesting conflict between different human and nonhuman factions, and intense action keep you turning the pages, anxious to see just how it all comes together. Follow Cassidy on her quest to discover just what role she plays in the major battle to come. Nicely done!
