She was raised in New Zealand before venturing to Australia in pursuit of a singing career in her 20’s. She is a professional career counsellor and trained in colour therapy, and various other healing therapies.

Beloved, I Love You So: A 40-Year Love Story Told in Letters by Melody R. Green is a lyrical collection of letters, supposedly written to a “beloved” and these letters contain history, heart, the seasons of the love experienced, the manner in which that love was expressed, the things that made it grow, the challenges it faced, the things that strengthened it, the hope it communicated in the hearts of the lovers and a lot more. The language in this book is filled with symbolism, each word pregnant with meaning. Whether it is about the love expressed “painfully” or “joyfully,” the author invites readers to look beyond the words they see. I enjoyed images like the tin box in which the letters of the beloved are locked away — a kind of treasure holding emotional and spiritual gifts.
Melody R. Green is very creative and uses the epistolary style to translate the message of a love that has endured many years. There is so much to relish in this work — the expressions of intimacy, the adventure between two souls in love, the excitement of feeling loved and giving love and a lot more. The writing is filled with a spiritual atmosphere that transcends human love. Perhaps that is why the author makes references to Rumi and Hafiz: “Maybe I am like Rumi and Hafiz. I see love as the light that leads us through the mundane. My poetry is written in essence not verses. It is distilled in moments of love. Love is expressed in moments over time, yet each moment is complete unto itself.” Beloved, I Love You So is a delightful expression of love, a memoir that will have readers turning the pages as they listen to one soul addressing another. A lovely collection of poetically written letters indeed!
