Elaine L. Orr is the Amazon bestselling author of “Trouble on the Doorstep” and other books in the Jolie Gentil cozy mystery series, which has eight books and a prequel. She also writes plays and novellas. “Behind the Walls” is a finalist for the 2014 Chanticleer Murder and Mayhem Awards. “Biding Time” was one of five finalists in the National Press Club’s first fiction contest, in 1993. Nonfiction includes “Words to Write By: Getting Your Thoughts on Paper.” She is a regular attendee at conferences such as Muncie’s Midwest Writers Workshop and the Indianapolis Magna Cum Murder, and conducts presentations on electronic publishing and other writing-related topics. A member of Sisters in Crime, Elaine grew up in Maryland and moved to the Midwest in 1994.

I just finished reading Behind the Walls, the sixth volume in the Jolie Gentil Cozy Mystery series by author Elaine Orr, and I may have found a new favorite mystery series! Following the lovable Jolie Gentil as she sets off on yet another detective adventure, the mystery begins when Jolie buys a fixer-upper house and finds there's much more to it than she originally bargained for. When she and her pal Scooby find some verifiable treasure behind its walls, all heck breaks loose. It appears that someone might be willing to kill for the items she's found, and when someone leaves a dead, elderly auctioneer on her porch swing, Jolie knows she's got to do something, or she just might be next.
I loved this book! Loved it! This is the first book that I've read in the Jolie Gentil Cozy Mystery series, but I definitely will go back and read the rest of them. Author Elaine Orr has a real gift at creating characters that the reader will truly connect with and will find realistic and relatable. Besides being a great cozy mystery, this book is fun, funny and full of suspense. Behind the Walls is a book that would appeal to any reader who loves a mystery, a suspenseful read, or just a plain good story. This book had me hooked from the first page, and I couldn't put it down until the end, so pick it up when you've got the time to read it straight through; you just won't want to stop reading! I highly recommend Behind the Walls and I am also very much looking forward to reading the rest of the books in Elaine Orr's series as soon as I possibly can!
