Christopher cried on the way to his first day of preschool. He didn’t want to leave his Mom. He knew he would miss her. He cried the whole time he was there, but his Mom reassured him every morning, “It’s okay. Be brave. Remember that Mommy is always watching and will come back to you.” Every day she promised to be there for him at lunchtime. Kindergarten was the same. Christopher cried and cried. His Mom promised the same thing. By the time Christopher was in Grade 2, then Grade 3, he was brave and he knew his Mom would always be watching, would always be there for him. All the way through Middle School and High School, it was the same and he was brave. Then it was time for Christopher to go away to college. It was his mother’s turn to cry and Christopher’s turn to say, “It’s okay. Be brave. Remember that I will always love you and come back to you.”
