Author Biography

A friend of mine wrote a sweet children's book about the love of a grandmother to her granddaughter. Having granddaughters of my own, I began to think of some of the things I did with them when they were young. Hence, the theme and idea of Angels, Angels Everywhere was born.

As I say in my book, "Being a wife and mother is the cake in life, but being a "Gram" is truly the icing on the cake!"

As the book encourages, dream big dreams and become all that God has created you to be. It's never too late to begin something new. Be brave, be bold, go for your dreams. Everyone has a dream, but you have to work to make it come alive!

So, in dedication to my sweeties Alyssa, Alexandra, Mackenzi and Alina, I present Angels, Angels Everywhere to you.

Angels, Angels Everywhere is a Christian picture book for children, grades K-3, written by Susan M. Branz and illustrated by Ashley D. Bostanic. Alieya loved to hear about the angels. She and her mom would spend hours talking about God and His angels, and her Gram’s house was filled with statues and pictures of the angels she loved to hear about. There were little, chubby angels that Gram referred to as cherubs, and lovely women angels, but Grandpa told her that there were men angels who were fearless, strong and protective. Alieya’s mom loved to read passages from Genesis and other parts of the Bible to her, and Alieya began to wonder about how angels came to be. When were the angels created? She loved knowing they were watching out for her, and wanted to learn everything she could about them.

Susan M. Branz’s Christian picture book for children, grades K-3, Angels, Angels Everywhere, is an engaging and educational book that introduces angels and scripture to young children. Ashley D. Bostanic’s masterful illustrations work quite well with the theme of the book. Her panels are richly colored, and her use of watercolor washes, especially for the sky and heavenly scenes, is inspired. I enjoyed Alieya’s theory that shooting stars could actually be angelic protectors, as well as her intellectual curiosity about their relationship with God and Genesis. This book is a grand selection for story time as well as a suitable choice for more advanced young readers to try on their own. Angels, Angels Everywhere is most highly recommended.

Angels, Angels Everywhere by Susan M Branz is an illustrated young children’s book about angels, told from a biblical perspective. Alieya, the main character, is a very young girl who receives instruction from her family about angels and their purpose. The pictures are painted in simple watercolors. Our world is filled with many frightening things. Wars, crime, bullying, poverty, injustice and the like can make many people think or feel that things are out of control, that no help will ever come from an outside source. Children are especially vulnerable when exposed to these ills of society, which is one reason why family is so important, especially the parents. They teach children about the things that can’t be seen with physical eyes, but are there nonetheless. Angels, being the main subject of this story, are shown as those beings sent by God to help people on earth. They are strong. They protect and help people. And they are everywhere.

What I appreciated about the story is that the perspective is on angels, and not the things they fight. The comfort brought from the pages focuses on those beings that are in control, namely God and the angels that He sends to help. With this knowledge, Alieya can be at ease during the day and sleep peacefully at night, knowing that someone is watching over her all the time. Angels, Angels Everywhere by Susan M Branz is recommended for young children, especially those whose life circumstances are filled with worry and care.

Everyone loves angels. What’s not to love about beautiful winged creatures? I was fascinated with angels as a young Christian boy growing up in Alabama. My mother encouraged this. She encouraged anything to do with God and the Bible. Her encouragement led me to read more and more about angels and their place in God’s plan. She would have loved it if I had read Angels, Angels Everywhere when I was a kid. I would have loved it too. Author Susan M. Branz has created a beautiful story and Ashley D. Bostanic has helped her turn it into a beautiful book. The story and the illustrations combine to create an experience that a child can keep throughout their lifetime. The colorful pictures and the thoughtful words certainly contain the possibility of this book becoming a children’s Christian classic.

There is nothing not to like about Alieya, her cat Tajo, her mom, and her dad. They are the perfect family. Alieya is a perfectly curious, normal little girl. Her parents are sincere, typical Christian parents trying to teach their child about God and the angels that help Him. The story is simple, the characters are nice and very likable. Children will love Angels, Angels Everywhere by Susan M. Branz and I think their parents will appreciate the effort it has taken to create a beautiful book that teaches traditional Christian values. The artwork is superb. The story is great and, in a world that seems to be moving away from traditional Christian values, Angels, Angels Everywhere will be a breath of fresh air.
