This story was written and illustrated by a nine year old girl. In "Angel in a Bubble" ,Melisa is on a beach with her dog, Amigo, when she hears a bubble talking to her. It turns out that she and Amigo both have angels, but they fell into the ocean and were turned into bubbles. In order to be changed back ,they need to journey to a mountain with a rainbow to talk to God. On their way, they meet animals who decide to join them on their quest. When they meet with God, he agrees to change the angels back and to revise the rule about angels turning into bubbles if they touch water.

The illustrations are done with marker and pencil and reminded me a lot of the finished products of my first and second grade students. I thought it was wonderful that Melisa went through the whole process of writing and editing a story up to publication. I see this as an inspiring book to show to younger children. Due to the religious nature of the story, it is not suitable for a public school classroom, but could still be used as an example of what younger elementary students are capable of creating. I love being able to show my students what can be accomplished with hard work and perseverance!
