Born in the picturesque city of Dehradun, in the beautiful Doon Valley, near the "Queen of the Hills", Mussoorie, Deepak Menon owes much of his inclination towards reading and writing to his Aunt who was the principal of St Thoma's School in Dehradun, and his kind gentle and loving mother. He married an officer in the same bank he worked in, both rose to the rank of Assistant General Managers and have two fine children - a son Samir completing his Fellowship in Stanford CA, and his daughter Serena a well known journalist in one of India's largest English dailies, 'The Hindustan Times'.
Deepak Menon resigned his job to start a new career as an author in September 2011.
He is a prolific and multifaceted author who is a 2013 Readers Favorite award winner for his delightful debut book of tales and fables "Tales of the Booga Dooga Land-Pickwick's Plan". He has followed up this with two more tales of the Booga Dooga Land - "The Womus" and "The Horus" both of which have received glowing reviews.
In this book "All Pure - Poems of Passion - a tribute to Omar Khayyam", he has faithfully followed the classical syllabic structure of Khayyam's poetry immortalized by Fitzgerald who translated Khayyam's work into his immortal "Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam".
In this book the author has gone a step further. The Quatrains are not translations but Original with his own unique perspective and thought. And they have been written in English!

All Pure — Poems of Passion, by Deepak Menon, is a collection of quatrains about love, loss, and trying to find meaning in life after experiencing pain and sadness. Menon’s poems portray a raw soul that is open and honest in its emotions. Readers will be challenged by his lines as they are asked to consider whether love is worth the pain that comes from losing it. This book asks the question of what is the meaning of life. Is it to gain answers or is the pursuit of answers where we find meaning? Readers will journey through these lines with the speaker as he attempts to reconcile his pain and understand the world around him, even though it is crumbling around him.
All Pure — Poems of Passion is a worthy read for lovers of poetry and pursuers of philosophical thought. Deepak Menon’s poems are short and precise, which makes this a quick read, but they are poignant and thought-provoking enough to keep a reader thinking long after the words have been read. I admire the raw emotion the author writes with and the openness with which he shares his thoughts. There is no barrier in place between the reader and the speaker of these poems. My only concern about this work is the format it has been written in. The quatrains have been pushed together, three or four to a page, which creates a hurried feel to the book. There were moments I felt I was lost in pages of lament and emotion with little meaning provided. However, after pushing these concerns aside, there is much merit to be found in Deepak Menon’s collection of poems, and I think All Pure — Poems of Passion was an enjoyable read.
