A Quest for a Nest: The Magical Power of Persistence by Michal Y. Noah is a beautiful storybook with good messages for young readers that will motivate and encourage them to handle life in a positive way. Melody wants a place of her own. The thought comes to her as she is flying high in the sky. She knows building a nest is not going to be easy and it requires work and time. Melody is ready for it and she decides to make it a fun project. She sees The Magic Tree beckoning her to build a nest on his branch. With the help of the Ant, Bunny, and Sparkles, Melody gets her nest built.
Though the story is simple, the messages are insightful and uplifting. The illustrations are adorable and they make the concept clear to young readers. Children will now be able to handle their life with a different perspective and they will realize the importance of setting a goal and focusing on achieving it. It is a story about determination, perseverance, patience, and teamwork. It is a must-have in every school library and home because of the messages it conveys to readers. The rhyming verses give it a good flow and pace. The lyrical quality while reading the story is appealing.
I like the way the author has handled the topic. It is enriching and inspiring and expressed in a manner so that children can understand the messages and the essence of the story. The story can be used for interactive sessions in classrooms as it has a lot of good concepts for readers to build on as they start life. Parents and grandparents should also read the story aloud to their children and grandchildren and motivate them to develop self belief and work towards their goals, taking a series of small steps.
