A New Way To Hope: Stories That Describe The Journey To Hope by William Stephenson, Ph.D. is a collection of touching stories from the author’s documentation of his medical practice. As a respected counseling psychologist with decades of experience, Stephenson focused on patients with little time to live, especially children. He had a mandate to bring hope and meaning to these patients while helping their guardians or parents through the grief. However, he had unique patients that extended beyond children to young adults and even the geriatric. Through their eyes and courtesy of his ministrations, the author shows how to break the shackles of fear and embrace hope and courage, even at the lowest points. This powerful book meticulously explores end-of-life care and mindset while making faith and love its core.
Sometimes, we find ourselves in situations that make us throw in the towel and expect the worst. But A New Way To Hope by William Stephenson, Ph.D. assures us that there is hope as long as we have breath. Hope also renews our will and gives a sense of direction that leads to fulfillment. I loved the author’s focus on creating impact, no matter how powerless his patients felt. Many of the stories broke my heart but left me with teary smiles in the end. Anthony had such profound insight and started a tradition, while Paul and Kathy found purpose. Look at the wisdom of little Phillip, and even little Noah was the doctor’s angel. The good doctor’s altruism towards Christal’s family was everything, and they paid it forward. This collection is inspiring and perfect for everyone struggling with something. Keep hope alive! Thank you for being, William.
