A Gnome's First Day at School by Ana Lim is a fantastic book for the young reader. Milana takes her best friend Mr. Boimler, who happens to be a gnome, to school. It is their first day at school and the gnome is a bit nervous. Students and teachers are shocked to see a walking and talking gnome. Milana's new classmates are interested in the gnome and ask him many questions. The tallest boy came to Mr. Boimler but was rude to him. Fortunately, Milana stands up against the bully and defends her little friend. In the class, Mr. Boimler makes the lesson entertaining by using magic. He also made solving math problems fun and creates an even more awesome surprise at lunchtime.
A Gnome's First Day at School by Ana Lim is a story that most children will enjoy. It also comes with a lesson - the rights of others. There is a scene where a boy tries to intimidate Mr. Boimler. However, Milana steps in assertively to stop him immediately. The book is cheerful and optimistic. The story starts with the main characters preparing to go to school and shows typical school-day activities that most children will recognize. The pictures are engaging and depict the scenes well. The gnome is such a cool guy. I loved his magical abilities, which came as a lovely surprise. Young readers will love this book for its fun and energy, ensuring that they will read it many times.
