A Coastal Christmas by Kaya Quinsey is a charming tale of love lost and found. Jessica Beaton is a successful TV broadcaster in New York but after her co-presenter boyfriend starts to propose to her on air and then walks away, Jessica feels the need to escape. So she heads home, back to Pebble Shores, to spend time with her family. She hasn’t been back here in years and soon finds herself getting involved in preparations for Christmas in the town. She didn’t count on Dean Adams, the town mayor, who isn’t too impressed when the media turn their attention to Pebble Shores and Jessica. But Jessica finds herself drawn to Dean and when her ex-boyfriend arrives in town, her life is shaken up. She needs the answer to one question - can she leave the glamour and glitz of New York City behind and have the life she dreams of with a small-town mayor?

A Coastal Christmas by Kaya Quinsey is one of those feel-good stories that elicit a warm feeling inside. A short story, it moves along at a good pace and is to the point although there are a couple of small twists in it. On the whole, it’s a lively story with a straightforward plot and some wonderful characters. The main characters have all been developed very well, written as real people with real feelings and emotions, all easy to relate to. The story has been written in a way that draws you in and makes you want to read it in one sitting - which I did - and it is very easy to lose yourself in the events. This is a great read if you want to while away a couple of hours, losing yourself in another life, and I guarantee you'll be rooting for Jessica and Dean all the way!
