The charming story A Bear Doesn’t Like To Share by Gabriel Neila tells the tale of a bear who wants to keep all his toys to himself. Written in an easy-to-read rhyme, children will enjoy the different scenarios of the bear who doesn’t share, not even his food. He takes what he wants and guards this from any animal who tries to play with it. He even takes things that don’t belong to him, showing a selfish nature. When the bear sees all the animals playing together and having a ton of fun one day, he realizes that keeping all his things to himself isn’t as much fun as he thought. When the other animals invite him to join their games and share their toys, the bear learns that he will also have a lot of enjoyment in sharing his toys.

Gabriel Neila starts this children’s book by explaining what sharing means. This is an invaluable life lesson each child should learn. I read A Bear Doesn’t Want To Share to my young daughter, and even though she doesn’t yet understand the concept of sharing, she enjoyed looking at the beautifully illustrated pictures of the bear and his friends immensely. The author illustrated the book himself, showing an array of talents, both in writing and illustration. I recommend this children’s book to any parent whose child hasn’t yet grasped the concept and importance of sharing. They will learn that even though sharing can sometimes be challenging, there is great joy in it, too.
