101 Reasons I’d Rather Marry My Cat is the second book in the 101 Series, written by Katharine Benelli Coggeshall. Cat lovers around the world will be nodding their heads in agreement at the many reasons listed, showing why cats are the best companions to have in life. With so many straightforward and common sense reasons listed, I could not help but find myself equally in agreement with almost, if not all of the statements. Each argument is more hilarious than the next, as readers will quickly discover that they are not the only ones in the world who travel to work covered in another being’s hairs, or who delight at finding something personal hidden inside their feline friend’s litter box, right next to where said friend had last peed. Tears streamed down my face at each of the statements of indifference which relate to the typical house cat. Coming home in a brand new outfit and not being grilled about how expensive it must have cost is a real treat. Cats are the most uncritical beings on the planet, complacent with sleeping up to 20 hours per day, listening to your stories on how your day went, or purring as you stroke their fur with your hand, a brush or even your own face. They do not care that you are making fish for dinner for the sixth time this week.
Katharine Coggeshall’s examples of how completely perfect a cat truly is are nothing short of pure brilliance, with both of my moggy felines nodding in agreement at each one, right before wrestling on the bed while forcing each other to take a bath. The only time a cat will become quite the dictator is at meal times, which is when they seem to have a built-in alarm clock. Breakfast, dinner and treats are all appreciated and will wake any cat from the deepest of sleep with just the slightest inhalation of the scent of said delicacies. I loved the way in which 101 Reasons I’d Rather Marry My Cat is flawlessly laid out, and would not hesitate in recommending it to cat lovers of all ages, shapes and sizes, as they would all agree that cats are the very best laid-back partners in crime to have, in good times and in bad; in sickness and in health.
