After having just finished reading Your Honor by Eden Wolf, I am left with a non-fading smile. Set in a court room, Your Honor features Izzy Leigh Dunne – former IT Girl – as the plaintiff in a humorous lawsuit against her stalker (the defendant), Cell-U-Lite, or “Celly.” The lawsuit comes after a horrifying incident in a clothing store change room, where Izzy had tried on a pair of shorts (which would have looked fabulous with her high heels), only to find the shorts were too small. After unsuccessfully trying them on, Izzy notices, while looking in the mirror, the cause of the new clothing item’s shortcomings. Dimples and fatty lumps have invaded her ultra-personal space, increasing the size of her butt and thighs, and costing her the IT Girl status she finds so valuable. After carefully inspecting the tag and noting that the shorts are the same size she has always worn, Izzy quickly realises that all of her clothes at home are also too small. Izzy’s testimonial in court quickly results in the judge finding her to be shallow, materialistic, and slightly insane, causing them to exchange heated words during the trial.
Having been a prosecutor in a court room on several occasions, I could not help but laugh while reading Eden Wolf’s humorous, anecdotal style of writing. Izzy’s testimony left nothing to the imagination, cellulite dimples and all. The plot line and delivery were a knockout. With a little bit of polishing, Your Honor could find itself in the top seller’s list, as the entertaining courtroom banter is so well written that it put me there with Izzy and the judge as I was reading, chuckling all the way. I found Your Honor a very good read and look forward to seeing this author's next project! Be sure to read to the very end. It might just surprise you!
