You Are My Biggest Why by Litasha Greaves is an insightful read to all mothers where they get to read the author’s story of getting pregnant as a teenager, the struggles she had to overcome, and the joy she felt when she looked at the byproduct of her pregnancy; her oldest daughter. Her sleepless nights and the pain endured when she was asked to abort the child throws light on the difficult times she underwent, and how the pregnancy gave her strength and purpose to live. The book will make readers appreciate and accept their mothers and open their hearts to their love and understanding.
The book is beautifully penned, captures the mother-daughter relationship nicely, and will connect well with all mothers and daughters. The book has some well written poems and prayers that will help in strengthening the mother/daughter bond and bring them closer to each other. The activities for journal entry are helpful to mothers in reflecting and sharing those private and precious moments in their lives while being with their children.
I liked the author’s style of writing; it is simple and the manner in which she intersperses activities and poems with her words makes the book effective and interesting to read. The author’s love and appreciation for her child are palpable and mothers will be able to connect with her words. It is an excellent book to gift to a daughter and will help mothers connect better with their daughters and grow closer to them.
