After gaining a reputation as one of the most feared gunfighters of the West while working as a lawman in Colorado, J.D. Rohr heads to Wyandotte for a fresh start. When he meets the beautiful daughter of a wealthy rancher, he falls head over heels and hopes to win her heart even though his chances are slim; especially because his rival, Dr. Frederick Albert Carlisle, is an elite physician from Boston with a higher level of education and status. Surprisingly, Frederick gives up his affluent lifestyle for the wildness of the West and the call to help the poor. These two, along with the other characters that connect them, are caught in a battle to save Wyandotte from the evil plans of a business tyrant. George T. Arnold's Wyandotte Bound is a rich illustration of the wild west.
I liked the lovable characters, the smooth and infectious writing, and the positive energy. George T. Arnold's Wyandotte Bound was an exciting, emotional, and enlightening experience. It was fun to experience the transition of the aristocratic characters to the freer lifestyle of the west. The major emotions projected are love, compassion, vengeance, and bravado. It was great to learn some new things about the west like the "chuck wagon food" and the "two-toned" skins. The best part, however, is the general positivity of the book. In conclusion, George T. Arnold goes beyond the typical western tale in Wyandotte Bound by impacting the audience with some key humanitarian values.
