Will Normal Return by Ben Kilgore is the story of survival and fighting against the odds. Jack Stevens enjoyed his annual camping vacation and was all set to return to normal life. However, he had no idea that life as he knew it no longer existed. It all began when his car wouldn’t start, and Jack looked for help at the Triple-O Ranch. Before long, he and the small group of people at the Triple-O Ranch are thrown into a world where there is no law and anyone can kill everyone if they wish to. How will Jack and the others at the ranch survive? No one knows what happened, and they need to stay alive until they can figure out why it all happened. Can they make it until normal returns?
Will Normal Return by Ben Kilgore is harrowing and emotional, considering the chaos that was created in the lives of these people. You can feel the need for survival and the emotional distress the situation caused the characters. While Lindsey was smart, Jack was struggling the most at the beginning of the story. However, he got hold of his wits and worked hard to get a grip on things before it was too late. I thoroughly enjoyed the narrative and the chase to find the truth before they ran out of time. Considering dystopian fiction is not my first choice, this was a great opportunity for me to enjoy dystopian fiction without the addition of too-tough-to-pronounce names and situations. The narrative was natural, the storyline was real, and the characters played their part in making the story interesting. I loved it!
