Wild at Heart by Stacy Gold is a story of unexpected love and the challenges and insecurities that come with it. With nothing but the items in their packs, Jules and Evan brave their solitary adventures only to continually bump into each other in the most unconventional ways. Neither expected to find a connection along the way and with sky-high walls, Jules is hesitant to let anyone in until Evan starts to bring out a side of her she thought she had lost. Can this steamy connection last beyond the borders of the beautiful Seattle wilderness, or will what happens in the forest stay in the forest? Will Jules allow herself to invest in the possibility of a great relationship and will Evan break free from the confines of his family name?
Stacy Gold does an excellent job of encapsulating the humor and seriousness within the different facets of her novel. I enjoyed the fact that a female character was the one doing the rescuing and was the savviest of the two. The series of unfortunate events that Evan constantly finds himself in had me in stitches. I enjoyed the dynamic and chemistry between the two characters. This novel does justice to the title since both Jules and Evan feel more at peace in a wilder landscape than in the busy city environment. Wild at Heart is a great story emphasizing the possibilities that come with taking chances on the unknown, following one’s heart, and going against the grain to achieve a special kind of fulfillment.
