In Why You're Sick and How to Get Well: Revealing Everything Western Medicine Isn't Telling You, Teresa Bruni delivers a wonderfully informative and helpful resource that blends personal anecdotes with her professional knowledge and understanding of holistic healing. The way she writes is comfortably conversational, which is helpful since some of the topics are more complex than others, and her communicative, friendly style makes it very accessible. I am a woman of East Asian descent who grew up with Eastern medicine as the first line of defense and initially approached the book as a refresher. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of new information I gleaned, although I will never tell my grandmother that. Bruni's discussion on nutrition particularly stood out, and it was interesting to allow for a deeper exploration of the crucial role of a balanced diet in warding off illness and fostering recovery. Bruni cautions against processed foods and excessive sugar intake and emphasizes gut health and the importance of supplementation. Very highly recommended.
